Financial Controller

Private equity owned tier-1 automotive parts supplier located in Clinton, TN with annual revenues <$50M seeking a Financial Controller to be responsible for all company accounting and financial activities. Additional responsibility for managing MIS/IT activities.

Scope of Duties:
Accounting - Manage all aspects of routine accounting activities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Reporting - Financial, tax and other reporting as required by Management, the Board of Directors, Government and Contractual Partners.
• Budgeting – Short & long term forecasts including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheets and Statements of Cash Flow.
• Day-to-day cash management and banking including short & long term loans & investments.
• Financial Planning & Analytics – Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to company Managing Director and private-equity ownership management comparing and explaining P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow results while rationalizing budget and prior year variances.
• Measuring and managing working capital levels.
• Management Information Systems - Control and security of systems and records.

Experience and Qualifications Required:
• Bachelor Degree in Accounting.
• 5 years experience as a Controller or Accounting Manager in a manufacturing company. Automotive industry preferred.
• Experience in public accounting preferred.
• Experience with inventory control and cost management in a QAD environment preferred.
• Professional Accounting Designation (CMA or CPA) preferred.
• Experience with foreign currencies preferred.
• ERP experience required.
• Experience with QAD MFG/PRO preferred.

QAD Finance Consultant

Location: Open / Remote (travel required)

   

Qualifications found in the ideal candidate will include:

  • QAD Finance experience 3-5 years, QAD Enterprise Edition is preferred.  Candidates with other ERP Finance experience will also be considered.

  • Experience on an implementation or upgrade project desired and hands-on QAD experience required.

  • Candidates will come from a financial/accounting background, if you have a CPA or CMA certification it would be a bonus.

  • Candidates must have professional management-level communication skills with an ability to speak with CFOs, Controller, Cost Accountants, Accounting Managers and diverse user groups about the software & implementation process.

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in Accounting or Finance from an internationally accredited university.

  • Vertical expertise in Life Science, Automotive, Electronics, CPG and or Food & Beverage desired.

  • Professional demeanor to represent the company in all instances and to promote strong relationships with clients to continue and build business.

Senior QAD DBA/Linux Administrator
Available Date: Immediately
Location: Open / Remote

 

The Senior QAD/DBA/Linux Administrator will work remotely with an existing Managed Services QAD Technical team, supporting clients across the Globe for 20+ versions of QAD and Progress all running on several different platforms. The candidate can live anywhere in the US, working remotely and must be currently eligible to work for any US employer.  Work shifts vary, some days, but evening/night and weekend hours are also available.  There is no travel required for this role.
 

Technical Requirements:

  • Experience supporting QAD 2009SE or EE and newer and Progress 10.2B or newer.

  • Progress Database Administration (DBA) hands on experience, 5+ years or more

  •  QAD ERP System support experience (ability to troubleshoot, fix, maintain, tune, make changes), 5+ years of hands-on technical support

  • Linux Administration (advanced commands, tuning, scripting, functionality, troubleshooting, printers, emails)

  • Progress Application Server support and troubleshooting experience

  • Tomcat Administration

  • Networking experience, particularly in a Linux environment

  • QAD Installation and configuration experience

  • Experience with Virtualization, Backups, Disaster Recovery and Security


Candidates must also be very strong communicators, willing and able to talk by phone with clients, managers and colleagues and troubleshoot QAD/Progress in a live setting with client stakeholders observing the process. An ability to tenaciously solve problems and improve processes is required, as is a strong ability to develop and revise documentation for procedures and/or system documentation. Candidates must also be able to work within a controlled environment which is audited each year under SOC 1 Type 2 standards.

QAD Consultants (2 Positions)

General Responsibilities:
The QAD Techno-Functional Consultant is responsible for both functional requirements and the technical development of core ERP QAD application. Responsible for analyzing cross-system business process re-engineering recommendations in order to define new or enhanced technology solutions. Provides leadership and consultancy for functional and process improvement efforts related to the support of information delivery and core IT services.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes complex business problems to be solved with automated systems, including detailed designs that support general business case information that requires additional research, validation, and translation into system solution requirements.

  • Modifying existing programs, conducting code-review, and writing new programs conforming to QAD Progress 4GL best practices and standards.

  • Configures system settings and options; plans and executes unit, integration and acceptance testing; and creates specifications for systems to meet business requirements

  • Leads and coordinates Integration Testing (INT/SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and associated activities such as test plan, test cases and test execution as related to a new implementation or significant enhancements to an existing implementation

  • Assisting with the installation, version upgrades, and maintenance of QAD application and related 3rd party software applications

  • Help to develop and implement processes and methodologies. Mentor, coach and lead staff augmentation consultants, new team members, or other Ball Metalpack SMEs, as required.

  • Provides detailed functional and technical documentation

  • Understanding and executing application lifecycle management best practices (change control) for promoting development customizations into production environment

  • Advising information technology strategies, policies and procedures by evaluating organizational outcomes, identify problems, evaluating trends and anticipating requirements.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborating with end users, managers, and fellow members of the IT Team

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field

  • General knowledge of can manufacturing, steel manufacturing, coating process or lithography knowledge is a plus.

  • Excellent analytical problem solving and decision-making skills within functional and technical areas with keen focus on root cause analysis, problem prevention and system stability

  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain training documentation and deliver training to users at all levels of the organization.

  • Able to assemble, analyze, and evaluate data and be able to make appropriate and well-reasoned recommendations and decisions to support the business and project teams

  • Knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems, specifically QAD Progress DB and Microsoft SQL Server (SSRS, SSIS)

Senior Database Administrator

Position Summary: 
Responsible for the administration, integrity, maintenance and security of databases, including back-up processes for the server and associated databases. Responsible for the management and support of key enterprise applications, including integrations between these systems. He/she must have strong technical skills, excellent problem solving ability and good customer service skills.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the administration of databases for key enterprise applications, including architecture, performance, maintenance, backup and security. Provides technical expertise and recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities as well as ensuring data is consistent across the database.

  2. Performs maintenance, database back-up and restorations of corrupted data. Develops, manages and tests database and application backup and recovery plans. Manages and truncates log files.

  3. Evaluates malfunctions of hardware and/or software applications for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain enterprise applications.

  4. Writes scripts for importing and exporting data into enterprise applications, maintaining the integrity of the data across the applications.

  5. Use report writing tools such as Qlikview, Browses and Reports to extract data and share information for automated reporting in compliance with regulatory guidelines.

  6. Writes documentation to describe scripts, schema changes, reports and coding for all supported databases.

  7. Provides back-up technical support (operating system and application) for enterprise application users. Support should be less than 15% of work time.

  8. Keeps abreast of the computer industry by reading professional journals, attending seminars and conferences etc.

  9. Always strives to meet corporate goals and looks for opportunities to use technology to do so.

  10. Performs other duties as assigned.
     

Qualifications Required:
•  Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•  Minimum of 7 years experience in database administration and managing enterprise level applications.
•  Computer skills required: Windows PC, server and Linux operating systems
•  Experience with Progress, Microsoft SQL, MSSQL and Access databases
•  Familiarity with programming language SQL, Visual Basic, Progress scripts, cron and bash scripts
•  Experience with enterprise level applications, QAD and QlikView preferred.
•  Proficiency in database administration, management, data import/export and developing reports.
•  Strong technical and problem solving and reasoning skills
•  Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact with people in a professional and courteous manner.


Span of Control: Enterprise Applications: Directly responsible for maintenance and backup of enterprise applications. Shared responsibility for security of enterprise databases.

Financial: Responsible for purchasing computer related hardware/software in the most cost effective manner.

Communication Requirements: Position duties require frequent contact with people both inside and outside the organization where matters discussed require professional and courteous communication skills that may affect the organizations policies, procedures, profitability and image.


Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Fingering. Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

  • Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

  • Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

  • Repetitive Motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

  • Sedentary Work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.

  • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
